Is this service necessary for me?
Just in Singapore about 15,000 to 20,000 communication devices inclusive of PDA
phones, laptops and mobilephones are lost every year and many more times of that
worldwide.
TotalMobileSecurity service manages this risk with a comprehensive suite of software
and solution, caters for people on the move that values their data.
Mobile Security software helps owner to identify the thief via their contact number,
location, IP address, machine serial number and even video of the perpetrator at
only a small fraction of the cost of the gadgets with less than US$3.00/month (yearly
subscription).
My gadget is the latest model! Will someone bother to return to me?
Which is worse? To lose a gadget with no anti-theft software?
With anti-theft software installed in the device, it increases the chance of a return
when stolen with alert sends from the thief's own contact number or IP address.
Service:
How do I subscribe to this service?
Click
here to sign up
How much do I need to pay?
US$ 2.99/month per service
What is the minimum subscription period?
12 months
How many devices can I subscribe the service to?
There is no limitation as long as the devices are supported by the mobile security
software and the backup service (Outlook Mail Client)
I plan to upgrade my phone before the subscription ends. What can you do for me?
Yes you can! What makes this service unique is customers can easily transfer from
an existing device to another, be it the same model, brands or across platforms.
For example, you own a BlackBerry Bold (Java) and like to replace it with a HTC
Diamond Pro (Windows Mobile). Just contact us and we will proceed to transfer the
license to the BlackBerry Storm.
This is also applicable to other devices of different Operating Systems.
Can I subscribe more than 1 device and if yes any limits?
Yes, you can. The subscription is per device thus if you like to have multiple devices
under the same account, you can simply sign up for it.
Is this service only for consumer, how about for enterprise users?
This service is open to all users.
Software:
What happens when I lose something?
If you have pre-installed the Anti-theft software in your device, you can wait for
the SMS text or the email alert.
How does BAK2u know what items are mine?
When you activate the BAK2u service on our website, you register your contacts to
the device.
How do I know if the software works?
PhoneBAK - When the finder replaced the owner's SIM card with his, PhoneBAK will
silently send a SMS to the pre-defined mobile phone number.
It is important to test out the pre-defined local number by simply interchanging
with another SIM card first before actual use.
Phoenix - When the finder did not enter the correct password upon connecting to
the internet, it will silently send an email to the predefined email addresss (twitter).
There is a testing button on the setup for owner to test the email.
How do I install the software?
There is a step-by-step installation guide included. Do not skip that guide! Some
common mistakes made are entering the activation pin into the program (PhoneBAK
series) instead of at the respective
activation page.
I need to log into the Window/Mac Operating System first before I can access the
laptop. Otherwise the anti-theft software will not be triggered without internet
connection. How do I work around it?
If you are using Windows/Mac authentication for login, you can setup a dummy account
(with administrative privileges). Do not put any password in that account.
Install Phoenix and configure the settings in that account. This will allow the
thief to login to the system without any windows based authentication. Once the
thief is logged into the dummy account, Phoenix will be triggered.
Support:
Are there any technical or local support?
BAK2u has presence in Singapore to provide the necessary supports, including documents
for owners to report to police for nonrecoverable cases too.
Can I use the same program for any other devices?
Each copy of anti-theft program is licensed to only 01 registered device. It is
therefore non-transferable.
Who will recover the lost device?
As the device has been pre-configured with contact numbers, the receiver of the
alert can contact the finder directly and make the necessary arrangement or can
report to the police to be dealt with too.
How would BAK2u deal with non-recoverable cases?
Refer to the police in the event when the finder does not want to return the phone.
Save the SMS alert received as evidence of the theft.
In the event, that there is no sms received to the pre-defined mobile number after
the phone is lost, the device could have been lost and not found.
